You really got me now

Posted by Sirin on May 24, 2010 in Daily challenges, The Feeling

Some days I’m just above everyone and everything. All humans with petty conversation and buses that never arrive on time. I’m above working and singing and conversing because nothing of it is important enough. What is important to remember on such days is to bring a shovel. When your superiority completely takes over do this: dig a hole, jump in it and pound the walls for a couple of hours.

The next day I usually go around in euphoria, just being happy for being alive. Which can be nice in it’s own little way.

I often experience people finding me shy. This, however, is just not the case. It is only my mouth being as small as it is that prevents too much noise to escape it at one time. It can be frustrating, but I’ve learnt to live with my condition.

View from the Rocking Horse

Posted by Sirin on Apr 10, 2010 in Daily challenges, Thoughts

Today…

IMG_5049

I feel like an old lady. Walking around the garden, taking photos of flowers and sticks and rabarber buds (see rhubarb). Scowling at little girls, walking by with their radio playing songs I’ve never heard by singers I’ve never heard of.

IMG_5047

It’s spring now. Windy. All the flagpoles have their ropes thrown against their poles, making it a chorus of snap-cracks and whip-snaps. Girls with tight jeans and loudspeakers are disturbers of the peace.

Am I old?

IMG_5056

I’ve always thought that my current age was 16, what if it isn’t? Am I abandoning my teenage years by doing photography, gardening, berets, and walks over windy fields?

Nah, I don’t think so.

I burnt my chair today

Posted by Sirin on Mar 22, 2010 in Daily challenges

I sat too close to the fire and my chair is now all black and sooty. It makes it look a bit like an old war-veteran, though. I think it likes that. My back didn’t burn

even though I sat with it against the chair’s back. I guess my time is yet to come.

One day I’ll look like an old war-veteran as well,

hopefully.

“Brute, Glob. Hello.”

Posted by Sirin on Feb 17, 2010 in Daily challenges, Favourite books, I don't like, Thoughts, reading

gulvL1040396

Over the years, my dad has, from time to time, forced me to read books that did not include magic, which I thank him for. I am not a very fantasy-reading person, to me there’s no such thing as fantasy. They are just books including magic. Point is, I never fail to finish one. Ever. With books of a more “real” kind this has actually happened once or twice.

I remember trying to read a book called Juniper when I was younger. I’d got it for christmas. I never found out if it was any good because half-way into the second chapter they started talking about racism and I fell asleep before I’d even finished the word.

So I returned to fairy-tales.

I am not one of those who solely read fantasy and SF. I’m not. Thus I felt disgusted and guilty by being bored by a book that was actually pretty well written. The truth is that books concerning politics of any kind bore me to death. Apartheid, racism, critical view of modern society, I’m asleep already.

Politics have nothing to do marching into the world of fiction. Not in the obvious way, anyway. If they are lurking behind the story and not showing themselves, then that’s fine. It is when they take out a megaphone and starts yelling “Listen up! Blah blah blah” that they ruin everything. Everything

Funny thing is, I’m not bored by books like Jane Eyre or Sense and Sensibility. Neither by Poirot or Ruby in the Smoke (a fantastically exciting detectiveish novel by Mr Philip Pullman). Because politics don’t interfere in the obvious way.

Also, people who analyze every book they read to be about McCarthy or global warming or apartheid. This is over-analysis, no matter what the author intends. Let fiction be fiction and keep reality out of it (let it at least seem so). We read for a reason, that reason isn’t always wanting to stop global warming or getting depressed by oppressed kids in Somalia.

This post is dedicated to my cousin Henrik, who didn’t believe I’d be able to post twice in two days. Hah!

Moving, fixing, changing

Posted by Sirin on Jun 15, 2009 in Daily challenges, Holidays, Images

My house is a mess. We recently moved and, well… we figured it was a good idea to change a bit, the house’s built in -36 so it was natural to change a bit. It’s getting real nice, but it means that only two rooms are inhabitable. It can be cozy, but it usually results in endless hours doing nothing, which can be frustrating.

But as summer is starting to take off and with the holidays 3 days away, I manage to keep up :P

We recently, finished a room upstairs, and it was much rejoicing.

Blogs dying

Posted by Sirin on May 15, 2009 in Daily challenges, Holidays

I can see it everywhere. People are disappearing for cyberspace. It’s terrible. What is more: I’m one of them andandand! I know the reasons (some of it anyway … my reasons anyway!)

This time of year is exam-time (reason 1), I also have an audition on monday, for a school (reason 2), it’s spring (reason 3).

At the moment, I’m just so sick of having to do so much at the same time. On wednesday I lost my favorite scarf and hadn’t it been for my sister, I would’ve lost my watch yesterday. I keep forgetting things, it’s awful.

I can see light in the end of the tunnel.

The grades are soon set, and then there’s one less thing. The audition’s on monday, so that’s another. I have so many pictures I want to post, but not on this computer and somehow I never find the time.

I will try to get better at posting.

Soon.

Promise.

Topshop

Posted by Sirin on Mar 24, 2009 in Clothes and Fashion, Daily challenges, I don't like, I like

Why why why Topshop? Why must you be so difficult? All I want to do is to buy a dress, why make it so hard?

This is my main problem for the moment. I’ve seen this dress at Topshop and I really want it. Then they come: can’t ship to norway. Arrg, it’s maddening (that’s the 2nd time that word comes up in 2 posts!) and I’m angry. I don’t buy clothes too often (I think…) and when I see something I want, then I want it. I’m also angry at Etsy  for not wanting to ship the products I want. Despite having fantastic weather in winter, there are some drawbacks in living in a small country, and not part of the EU. Sigh.

dresses

Apart from that, the cold that’s been going around seems to have caught me and I’ve fallen ill. Perfect timing in the middle of all my mock exams and tests. I had a mock exam yesterday, it was a great fun and in norwegian, just sitting writing all day, perfect for me. I wrote a Jane Austen’ish story about love (I never write love-stories so that was interesting) and it got around 5 more pages than we were supposed to write, but it was fun anyway.

March 22nd

Posted by Sirin on Mar 22, 2009 in Daily challenges, I like

I’m ashamed now. I promised Eline to blog every day, but I fail. I’m sorry to both of you reading my blog. The thing  is that I share this mac with my sister, and she has a thing about using the computer until it’s empty, then not recharge it. It can be maddening, and I have to go around charging it all the time. Anyway, I won’t make any more excuses, I’m not really into this going into the computer every day… sorry.

Besides that, the weather’s fine and sunny, and rainy… it really can’t make up it’s mind. I’ve played the violin/viola with my orchestra all weekend it’s been, well, I admit that it was a bit boring and not exactly at my level, but the concert was fun and it’s over now anyway.

And lastly, just a little picture:

bueskytingok, got quite big. Anyway, one good thing about the oncoming spring is that I’ll be able to shoot with the bow again. Can’t wait for that!
